We are all our own worst enemies. Many times we make ourselves fail before we even start. I have said it many times and I will repeat myself many times more; there are no short cuts, you can’t succeed if you are not honest with yourself and planning is the key!

Plan your food in advance, cook it, and organize it. Protein powders can be a quick-fix, but I can honestly say the only protein powder I would suggest right now is MTS Nutrition Whey, based on no other information than my body. So many powders out there are made with fillers and chemicals that make my body bloated and give me a very puffy look. And I know you all want to hear that there is a protein bar out there that’s ok to eat and yes, If you are maintaining, doing long distance cardio training or trying to gain either muscle or body fat go ahead. In that case, I would suggest Quest bars because they are the cleanest ones out there right now. BUT if you are trying to lose weight, bars will slow down the process. If you are okay with slowing your progress, then bars are an option. Just be careful because most bars out there are higher in calories than you need for a snack.

If your goal is to lose bodyfat I highly recommend whole food. It is a hassle I know but this is when you have to be honest with yourself; what are your priorities?

photoChoose one day a week when you buy most of the groceries you need for the week. Some food like fruit and veggies has to be bought more often but your meats and complex carbohydrates can be taken care of in a single trip. Then, set aside 1-2 days when you cook in bulk. Use your grill, crock pot and/or stove. In just a few hours you can have many days worth of meals taken care of and this way you never have to get in the sticky situation where you are starved and nothing is ready to eat. Organize your food, plan and pack it each day (there are so many cooler bags now that look like backpacks or even handbags so there is no need to drag around something huge).

Is it fun? No!!! Does it take time? Yes!!! But so does cooking every day and this way you will have more time during the evening to cook for your kids or do other things instead of spending time in the kitchen. It’s only a hassle until you get used to it and have made cooking in advance a habit. Give yourself two weeks of this and it will start happening by itself. You will not only see changes in your body since you never have to grab the first thing you see anymore, but you will also save money since you don’t have to go out and buy lunch and snacks anymore.

Invest in containers thats easy to packAnd please don’t think eating healthy means eating bad tasting food. After figuring out your food sources and how much of it you need each day, learn how to use spices or cook differently!!! Use your imagination! The only limits to how your food will taste is what you’re willing to put into it. Have fun with it and the food that make you lose body fat quickly will become the food you want to eat!
